Still knitting and crocheting, but no pictures

I just finished two of Ellen's Ship support hat patterns. Trying to use up odds and ends. (Bev's challenge) I love to make this hat. This works for me: Knit the brim with #8's straight needles (to hard to coordinate the circular needles until I get a few row on). When I start the knitting I switch to the circular needles so I can knit, not knit and purl.

The pattern says to knit until 8", but after talking with my husband on his option the last one I did I knit to 7". Then I switch to dp needles (several of them I made from dowels). I'm not the best with them, but they end up making it a smoother process. Like the 7" better.

Heather's relief society is making hats I think for the homeless. Also Chris in SLC from Bev's charity group is collecting hats and scarves. She is such a grand cheerleader for us that I feel great supporting her effort.

You can download Ellen's Ship Support hat pattern from Lion Brand yarns in pdf also on Ship Support site, however I like the pdf format.

I sent off two boxes yesterday: one to Pine Ridge OB (CFAC) and one to Parkland Hospital (K4C). Who remembers what were in them, but they were crammed with items made with love. Love stuffing those flat rate postage boxes.

Julia is working on her third (this month) loomed hat. She's awesome.

Have to give Heather credit, she has so much going in her life and crafting never has high on her list. However she has been looming hats for her ward's project. I am so amazed with her writing talents, I am in awe with all her talents.

Plans for the next couple of month are mittens and toddler/adult slippers and more hats. I have more room in another flat rate box to be filled before I mail it to Pine Ridge for the students. Also need to finish a burial gown, almost done to send to Bobbie at Balboa hospital. Booties for humanitian aid also. I have several small quilts cut out that I need to finish up, who knows but I really need to learn to use my new machine.

Keeps me busy, sane and gives me an excuse for watching my favorite tv shows.

a success and another weekend sweater

My camera is sitting on my coffee table but I keep forgetting to take pictures. I did finish another pink sweater, a pair of white booties and a baby washcloth.

The success is the baby washcloth. Got a book and made a blue sailboat last night. Looks really cute.

Now I need to get things boxed up and sent to AC4C for the burial gowns and items for the OB at Pine Ridge

On my needles

Right now I have in process: a wonderfully soft yarn newborn hat and a backpack.

August has been a very productive month. Because of new yarn (always a modivation) and joining a new group, I have been very modivated. Got lots of UFO's finished, a couple thrown out for lack of yarn, etc. Besides the Olympic medals, since August was my dad's birth month, I dedicate this items to him.

Need to finish up: finishing touches to a burial gown, crochet ties for 3 pair booties, two of which was made from Vanna's Choice. Sew buttons on one sweater and two bibs.

Need to: take pictures of Olympic items and get them sent off

I think this is the least amount of projects I have going at the same time. I also only have one UFO to finish, but I need to find the book that has the instructions.

More pictures

Another 5 hour sweater with hat and booties. These are the booties that go with the 5 hour sweater.

The hat is the newborn pattern done in garther stitch.

These are for AC4C this month. I have a blessing gown, but need to do the finishing. It took me two years before I was able to make my first gown, then I use to cry while making these, but now I just feel good. Meaning I know these are hard to craft, I don't think any of us are glad there is a need, just that we can full fill a need.

I love these Beginner Toddle Slippers. They work up so quickly.

Yes the booties are missing the ties, but I promise I will have them finished by the time I mail these.

New backgrounds

My DIL has some awesome backgrounds so I went to the site. It only took me about three times longer than it would have taken any of my grandchildren. But it's up. I like it. Need to figure of the color of the fonts, but that'll be another day

Olympic challenge

Here are some things that I made for the Olympic challenge. Yikes I may not make it cause the USA is racking up the gold medals.

5 hour baby sweater, Newborn hat, (momentally forgot name of slipper patten) and sideways mittens.

I got up this morning determined to get a couple of photos taken (sorry about the unmade bed) and get them on my blog.

Here are two newborn hats but instead of following the pattern after the ribbing, I did garter stitches. Thought they matched the booties better. Also a pair of toddler booties.

These pictures represent some of my favorite patterns. I'll try to post some more in a couple of days.

July ending

These are some dishcloths that I have been making for the Pretty Bird Womens shelter on the reservation.

I took pictures with my cell, bluetoothed them to my PDA then took my card out to upload pictures to my laptop. Then emailed them to the PC. Easier to take them with my digital, but I didn't have that handy.
